7 Skills For the Art of Integration
It’s been 10 years since I’ve been in the health and wellness industry helping people live healthier lives. I started helping others where I started with myself; fitness. Then I earned my certificate in Health Coaching and focused on diet. In the midst of all this, I was having a quarter life crisis and what I call spiritual awakening and this brought me to integrate my emotional and spiritual self with the physical and mental.
Now, 10 years into this work, I understand how to help others not just become physically well but emotionally and spiritually sound also. Integrating these parts of Self is what Synergy Wellness is all about.
We can not overhaul our life overnight. The art of integration takes 7 skills. Integrating these skills will support you in integrating a higher quality of life and overall well-being.
- Awareness of what you don’t want, what you do want, what does not work, and what does work.
- Consistency in keeping your commitments and showing up for yourself. This is how you create evolved versions of yourself.
- Reflection is when you create space to become aware of what I stated in #1. It’s also a space to celebrate how far you’ve come!
- Persistence is about not giving up. This means you need to learn how to take breaks when you’re exhausted or overwhelmed with the challenges that will naturally occur.
- Curiosity in the unknown and the process of self discovery. Oh this is what makes it fun! Have a sense of curiosity about your life and truest self.
- Tenacity is being very determined. It’s about motivation. Being highly tenacious in taking the best care of yourself that you can to enjoy life to the fullest.
- Patience because most importantly, the integration process takes time and you need to allow for that.
Most of us who want to improve our life need to practice these skills. Chances are they may not have been nurtured in you while growing up. So when we decide we want better for ourself and we lack understanding of importance of adopting these skills, we don’t last long on the path of health and wellness. In fact, it’s very common to not get passed the fitness and food part. Anything beyond that can be deeper than an individual may want to go and so full integration of Self doesn’t happen. This can lead to complete relapses in the food and fitness journey, causing a person to not enter that path again.
That’s why understanding that developing these skills are necessary to success and do take time is so important.
Everything is connected and so full mind, body and soul transformation is a process but a journey well worth taking for overall health and wellbeing.
