8 Important Things to Know When Going Through Any & All Transformations
I’ve lived in Las Vegas for 8 years now and in the last 8 years, I’ve changed careers, had a quarter-life crisis, started a business 3x, evolved as a human & entrepreneur, healed important relationships in my life (most importantly the one with myself), and learned how to live a healthy & fulfilling life. I have learned a lot of things about all different types of transformations (physical, emotional and spiritual) we may experience throughout our life and I want to share 8 important things to know when going through any & all of them.
1. Everything we do is rooted in how much self-love & self-worth we carry – so care about yourself & how you feel.
The way we talk about ourselves. What we eat. If we exercise or not. The attention to self care that we allow ourselves. If we suppress emotion or release it. All of these are indicators of how we feel about ourselves and how highly we value caring for ourselves. If we have low value in caring for ourselves, this reveals where we need to place our attention on healing. Once we choose to heal and start showing up for ourselves differently, our self love increases, overtime, our health and well-being improves.
2. There is no overnight success – we must earn our transformation by doing the inner-work & learn to enjoy the process.
If what we wanted was handed to us, we wouldn’t have evolved into the type of person who could sustain what was handed to us. Part of earning the transformation is the natural evolution that occurs from doing the inner work. So skip any quick fix or life hacks. Choose to take the journey and enjoy the process of becoming.
3. Sustainable success & gradual growth is what it’s all about – small realistic shifts in actions and thoughts that align with what you want.
It’s never about biting off more than you can chew. Consistent small steps forward will take you much farther in the long run. Do not underestimate small daily wins in your actions or your thoughts, or both. I always say, you can not overhaul your life overnight.
4. Always celebrate daily wins – always.
So many of us do not do this. Get intouch with that inner child and celebrate every thing you do or say to yourself that moves you forward. These are the shifts you’re making to take you where you want to go.
5. Move your body daily – movement is movement.
Anything from slow stretching to HIIT counts. The body was designed to move, so make getting intouch with the body a daily practice.
6. Detach from numbers & image – no more “skinny fat” or talking poorly about yourself.
Image is not the be-all, end-all to happy- in fact, it has nothing to do with happiness. You can have your dream body and still be working at a job you hate, in an unhappy marriage or unfulfilled in life. Remember that those last 5-10lbs, the wrinkles, achieving the desire for fuller lips if not going to fulfill you. If you really want to be happier with yourself than you need to look at yourself on the inside.
7. Boundaries are your friend – around routines, habits, rituals, relationships, food that support & align with what you want out of life.
Boundaries are one of the hardest things to establish when making changes. Take your time with them. Use tip 3 to help you gradually establish them and then number 4 for every single success.
8. Find your own balance between the push and the pause – when you need to break and for how long.
Inner work and transformation is hard. It’s mentally and emotionally exhausting. Sometimes you might need a few days off from all the pushing. Take it. Just remember that the longer you break the harder it will be to get started again, so I recommend no more than a day or 2.
I have shared some important life lessons that I experienced on my own transformation in my first book called Heal. Peel. Grow. These lessons woke me up to the confident, secure woman I wanted to be. You can check out the book and grab your copy here.
