What is Self Mastery & Why it is an Important Path

As I evolve in my career as a coach/fitness trainer, I’ve identified with many “titles” to call myself. None of which are as true as a Self Mastery Coach. I have gotten questions about what self mastery is. Let’s explore what self mastery is and why it is important.

Simply put, self mastery is the ability to manage your energy in any situation. In other words, being self empowered by not allowing outside circumstances or people to negatively affect you AND if you are affected, you can take ownership of your energy and be with yourself during challenging emotions, rather than bypass or blame others for how you feel.

When we allow other energies to filter into our field, and fall victim to that, this is how codependency is formed. In other words, I depend on you (said person) or a circumstance to make me feel good or be a specific way so I feel good. This form of codependency is energetically giving our power away.

This can show up in several ways in life and in the end, it gets the best of our wellbeing. Many relationships (people) function on codependency and lack self mastery. Stress (circumstance) is often exasperated due to lack of Self Mastery. 

Self awareness, pausing and observing and healing emotionally are 3 ways to start the process of self mastery. 

Why is the path of self mastery important?

To put it directly, we move through life with more inner peace – who doesn’t want that?  Let’s explore a bit more;

Inner peace is great but we will not always feel that. It’s quite empowering though, to develop resilience in stressful situations, to know yourself so deeply that you know how to be there for you and give yourself what you need rather than rely on an outside source or bypass your feelings and blame.

When we do this type of work throughout our lifetime, life will feel like it gets easier but in reality, you are becoming more resilient, emotionally stable, self aware and grounded in your Being. This is one way life gets better as you get older – and again, who doesn’t want that?

In the end, the only thing we can control are our actions; managing our energy, observing our thoughts and owning ourselves completely is the most empowering way to move through life and with self empowerment, comes healing and inner peace.
