Why Our Spiritual Practices Are Important During Crisis & How You Can Stay Connected
It’s our practices that ground and center us during difficult times so that we can make practical decisions with clarity.
Here are 4 ways you can stay connected during times of crisis
- Release the idea that your practices have to look the exact same as when life is more stable. The reality is, they won’t. To make it easier for yourself, allow that to be okay. Just do what you can do. Here are a few ways to adjust but still show up for yourself.
- Take 2-5 minutes to be alone and practice deep breath work, a positive affirmation and hold a clear vision. When you give yourself a few minutes to be alone to center yourself, you’ll be amazed at how much lighter you feel around others. As you are getting ready in the morning, sit with yourself for those 2-5 minutes. Learn a few breathwork exercises here and Learn a few affirmations here
Hold a clear vision of how you want to feel and move through the day. Hold that vision of yourself with a smile, holding space for a loved one, or moving through your day with hope and joy. You can come back to these 3 steps throughout your day when the fear, doubt or chaos begins to creep in.
- Be the Light you want to see. Lead by example. Here is the opportunity to align your actions with the desire you wish to feel. Step 2 will be vital for you to do in order for you to be clear on the vision and take aligned action throughout your day.
- End your day with step 2, gratitude and sending out light. Sit with yourself alone for 2-5 minutes to practice deep breath work, a positive affirmation and hold a clear vision. Add a bit of gratitude and send love and light to those who need it. When you send love and light, envision either a white or pink light coming from your heart, radiating out to either a specific person or the collective. Imagine the light entering their heart center as they recieve your energy. You can repeat, “I send love, light and healing energy to (a specific person or) those who are in need of love, light and healing energy.” You can hold this vision and repeat this for a long as you need to. This practice can spiritually connect you to others and remind you that you’re not alone during difficult times. Others out there are struggling with similar fears and this connection reminds us that we are one.
When you’re finished, take a deep breath, open your eyes and finish your nightly routine.
